Garden City High School Senior Spotlight: Nicolas Ragas
He is an accomplished athlete and student, and works tirelessly with the German club and tutoring students.

GARDEN CITY, NY — This week, Garden City High School is shining its Senior Spotlight on Nicolas Ragas.
Ragas is an accomplished student at Garden City High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the National German Honor Society and is an AP Scholar with Honor. He has earned many accomplishments beyond that, in a variety of areas.
He is a three-year gold medalist in the AATG National German Exam and tutors students in German. He contributes to the ECHO Student Newspaper as a writer and the world/national news section editor. He is also president of the German Club, president and co-founder of the Video Editing Club and was elected vice president of Senior Class Council. He won the Intramural Quiz Bowl with Team Slater earlier this school year.

In addition to his many academic interests, Ragas has been a member of Garden City’s cross country and track & field teams since the seventh grade and has been running at the varsity level since his sophomore year. Named cross country captain as a junior and senior, he runs a mile time of 4:54 and a 5k time of 17:53.
Ragas gives back to the community by organizing fundraising activities through the German Club, including coat drives and nonperishable food collections for the Mary Brennan INN. He also volunteered with Island Harvest throughout the pandemic. He will be attending the College of William & Mary in the fall.
