GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Hotel, located in the heart of the village's downtown, announced earlier this month that it was permanently laying off more than 100 employees.

The hotel, located at 45 7th St., announced in March that it was temporarily laying off 290 employees due to the coronavirus. But as the closures extended, the reopening of hotels was delayed.

In filings recently made with the state's Department of Labor, the Garden City Hotel said that the layoffs became permanent for 101 employees on June 11.
