Garden City Park Company Lays Off 215 Due To Coronavirus

GARDEN CITY PARK, NY — A coffee distribution company has laid off hundreds of workers because of the coronavirus, according to filings with the state.

Coffee Distribution Corp., based in Garden City Park, laid off 215 employees this week, according to documents filed with the state Department of Labor. The layoffs are more than half of the company's nearly 400 employees.

The company cited "unforeseeable business circumstances prompted by COVID-19" as the reason for the layoffs.

Founded in 1963, Coffee Distribution Corp. services businesses in the New York and New Jersey area with coffee and other kitchen and pantry supplies.
