GC Baseball Wins Two

Garden City Baseball beat Herricks on Friday and New Hyde Park on Saturday to bring their season record to 2-1.

Garden City used a formula of good offense supported by several outstanding pitching performances to win the two games. On Saturday, it was Patrick Heber (13) taking a no hitter into the fifth inning to get the win. Heber went six solid innings with nine strikeouts. Matt Mohen (20) came in to throw a scoreless seventh for the save.

Saturday's 5-2 victory featured a first inning two run blast from senior Joe Infante (31) and a fifth inning two run double from Aidan Magnotta (15) that provided enough offense for the win.

Seniors Joe Frandina (6) and Aidan Magnotta (15) combined for the three hit 5-1 win on Friday afternoon. After allowing a first inning run Frandina threw three scoreless innings to get the victory. He was followed by three hitless innings out of Magnotta for the win.

The Trojans return to action against Herricks on Monday, and then take on conference II rival East Meadow on Tuesday (A) and Thursday (H).
