GC Gearing Up for Belmont Festival

Move over, Kentucky: The 17th Annual Belmont Festival is on its way to Garden City.

On June 6, Seventh Street will shut down and play host to the annual celebration marking the last leg of the Triple Crown.

Bring the family for live music, face painting, and free pony rides. Kids will also be invited to partake in a poster contest.

For the adults, a Wing Off competition is set to benefit the Ace in the Hole Foundation, created in honor of Garden City's First Lt. Michael LiCalzi, who lost his life in 2006 while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sponsors of this year's festival include Stifel Investment Services, New York Racing Association, and the many businesses of Seventh Street in Garden City.
