GC Kickline Entertains Once Again

The Garden City Varsity Kickline brought their enthusiastic and well-choreographed performance to the Varsity lacrosse game this week.

Garden City High School has many long-standing traditions to go along with their excellence on the playing field, but none more entertaining than the Varsity Kickline. The girls represent a blend of athleticism, stamina and dance to entertain crowds typically at halftimes of the varsity football and basketball games.

The girls wrapped up their season this week with a fantastic performance at halftime of the Varsity lacrosse game. Performing this year during the Fall season football games in April and Spring season lacrosse games during May has been different for the girls, but they continued to put in the work and produce some amazing halftime shows along with the Cheer squad and Marching Band.

With a team that has more than 50 girls on the squad, coach Samentha Samuel has had to depend on a core of seniors to help keep the team focused and ready. The seniors on the team choreograph each of the performances and work the team throughout the seasons to ensure that the girls are performing their moves with precision and accuracy.

The seniors on the team are Daria Gemmell, Sara Aquino, Julia LoManto, Arianna Vranka, Nancy Gannon, Hannah Pletcher, Emma Gillin, Ellie Dowden, Tina Philippides, Gianna O’Neill, Meave Kinney, Lily Milone and Nicole D’Amelio.

The energy level that the girls bring to the field is as high as the levels that the teams they are supporting exhibit. And that is apparent by the enthusiasm of the crowds during and after each performance, as the energy of the girls on the field translates to the stands.

Making sure that the energy levels are maintained, and the girls remain focused are the teams captains Gillin, Kinney, LoManto, Milone and Pletcher.

Congratulations to another great year of performances and a special shout out to the graduating seniors!
