GCHS Boys Soccer Advance
The varsity soccer team continued their undefeated season with a 3-0 second round victory over Carey.
The boys have been focused all season, to continue their march through the season for a shot at another Nassau County Championship. And they have been true to that goal with an overall record of 14-0-3, and a Conference record of 8-0-2. Playing a ball control game that builds it's offense from the backline, the Trojans have continually had their opponents chasing the ball. This has produced a huge goal differential with GC scoring 66 while only surrendering 5 goals against! This staggering statistic includes 12 shutouts with 9 in a row during the season.
Coaches Paul Cutter and Reid Sclafani can often be heard encouraging the boys to 'play simple', 'play under control' and if they lose a ball 'see how quickly we can win the ball back.' The boys have been able to parlay the coaches system into a very successful season thus far, although to a man you can see that they understand there is only one goal, to hoist a County Championship trophy!
