Long Island Weather: April Showers Starting Right Away

LONG ISLAND, NY — This week will be warm, but April isn't going to be wasting any time with starting the April Showers, according to weather forecasts.

The National Weather Service is predicting rain to kick off April. Thankfully, the rain will only last a day or two, and it looks like the Easter weekend will be clear and warm.

Temperatures are forecasted to be pretty consistent for the beginning of the week, hovering in the mid to upper 50s through Wednesday, when the rain comes. The rain is going to lower temperatures, dropping the days down to the 40s, and maybe even below freezing at night.

As of now, temperatures are predicted to pick up again for the weekend.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 35. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Light southeast wind becoming south 9 to 14 mph in the morning.

Tuesday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 43. South wind 7 to 9 mph.

Wednesday: Rain, mainly after 2 p.m. High near 59. South wind 7 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain. Low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 31.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.
