Man Killed After Being Hit By Box Truck In Hempstead

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man died Monday morning after he was hit by a box truck in Hempstead.

According to police, a 45-year-old man was driving a Freightliner box truck north on North Franklin Street at 9 a.m. when he hit a man who was crossing the road. The man, who police did not identify, suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the box truck was not charged. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
