Man Threatened LI Store Employee For Asking Him To Wear Mask: PD

The hardware store employee asked the man to put on a mask, and he began yelling at her and threatened her, police said.

GARDEN CITY PARK, NY — Nassau County police are looking for a man accused of threatening a hardware store employee over being asked to wear a mask last week.

According to police, the man entered Costello's Ace Hardware, located at 2323 Jericho Turnpike, at 2:20 p.m. Friday without wearing a mask. An employee of the store, a 23-year-old woman, asked him to put on a mask and told him it was store policy, police said.

Police said the man refused to put on a mask and began yelling and cursing at the employee. He then threatened the worker, left the store and drove away in a white SUV, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the man to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
