Police ID Driver, Man Killed In Meadowbrook Crash
As rush hour hits, the northbound lanes of the Meadowbrook are still closed for the police investigation.

UPDATE, 5:15 P.M.: State police have identified both the driver and the pedestrian in the fatal crash that occurred this morning on the Meadowbrook State Parkway.
According to police, Michael Patterson, 39, of Freeport, was struck and killed by Brett Belferder, 31, of Wantagh, who was driving a 2017 Subaru Outback. Police say that Patterson's car, a 1992 Volvo 740, was parked a short distance away from where he was hit.
Police say the accident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed yet against Belferder. The northbound lanes of the Meadowbrook State Parkway are still closed.

UPDATE, 1:40 P.M.: One person was killed and two police officers were injured in the Meadowbrook Parkway crash, state police say.
According to the state police, just before noon, state police troopers and Nassau County Police Department officers were investigating a one-car crash on the northbound lanes of the Meadowbrook, north of exit M2.

Police say that another car traveling north struck and killed a pedestrian, and also hit the state and Nassau County police cars. The state trooper suffered minor injuries.
The northbound lanes of the Meadowbrook Parkway are still closed for the investigation. Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to call the New York State Police at (631) 756-3300.
UPDATE, 1:15 P.M.: Police say the southbound lanes of the parkway have reopend. The northbound lanes remain closed.
