GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending June 8.
June 1
- A driver was charged with driving on Cathedral Avenue with a suspended license, excessive speed, and loud exhaust system.

- Officers responded to a railroad gate malfunction at the Nassau Boulevard crossing.
- Police are investigating a report of a man stealing multiple electric razors from Walgreens Pharmacy.
- The driver of a commercial vehicle was charged with driving on Hilton Avenue with a suspended license, unsecured fuel containers, and defective trailer brakes.
June 3
- Police and firefighters responded to a home for a fire alarm and upon investigation determined the cause to be burnt food.

- Officers conducted a Buckle Up NY seatbelt enforcement initiative on New Hyde Park Road. Eleven tickets were issued for seatbelt violations and 19 additional tickets were issued for various traffic violations.
- Officers conducted traffic and safety details on 7th Street for the Belmont Fair.
June 5
- Garden City detectives arrested a 23-year-old man for criminal mischief. On May 17, two vehicles were involved in a road rage incident on Franklin Avenue when the man exited his vehicle at a red light and punched the other vehicle, damaging the rear quarter panel.
- Officers safeguarded a large hanging tree limb on Stewart Avenue, which was blocking a sidewalk. The Parks Department was notified for removal.
- A driver was charged with driving on Hilton Avenue with a suspended registration.
June 6
- Multiple items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Willow Street driveway.
- A driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue with a suspended licenses and excessive speed.
June 7
- A driver was cited for driving on 2nd Street with a suspended registration and unregistered vehicle.
- A truck was placed out of service on Merillon Avenue due to several defective brake violations, an unsecured fuel tank, and defective tires.
- Police investigated a report of numerous unauthorized withdrawals against a resident’s bank account.
- Police investigated a report of a vehicle leaving the scene after striking and damaging a vehicle parked in Parking Field 7S.
June 8
- Police investigated a report of a person’s identity being stolen and used to file false unemployment claims.
- A Westbury company was cited for the operation of a truck on Edgemere Road in a “No Commercial Vehicle” zone, as well as violations for unsecure loads, and defective brakes. In addition, the driver was charged with driving with a suspended license.
