GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending June 22.
June 16
- A driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue and Kensington Road with a suspended license and operating a cell phone while driving.
- Police and firefighters responded to Garden City Plaza where firefighters extinguished a small mulch fire.
- Police and firefighters responded to Parking Field 9E where firefighters extinguished a small campfire in the rear of the lot.

- A Stratford School storage shed door was found damaged.
- A driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- A driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue while unlicensed and excessive speed.
- A driver was charged with driving on Rockaway Avenue with a suspended registration and illegally tinted windows.
June 18
- A driver was charged with driving on New Hyde Park Road with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- A vehicle parked in a private Franklin Avenue lot was found damaged.
- A driver was charged with driving on New Hyde Park Road with fraudulent license plates, unlicensed operation, unregistered vehicle, and uninsured operation.
- The top of a Clinton Road streetlight was found damaged by unknown means.
- The bumper of a vehicle parked in the vicinity of the Merillon Avenue Railroad Station was found damaged.
- An unlicensed driver was charged with driving an unregistered and uninspected vehicle on Meadow Street.
- An unlicensed driver was charged with excessive speed on Stewart Avenue.
June 19

- A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Brixton Road.
- As a result of a transformer explosion, officers responded to several traffic light outages on Clinton Road and Washington Avenue.
- Officers responded to Garden City High School for a report of youths in the grandstand press box using the PA system. Upon investigation, two teens were cited for trespassing and released to their parents. The investigation is ongoing.
June 20
- Police and firefighters responded to Harrison Street for a basement fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire. Neighboring departments were at scene. The Nassau County Fire Marshal and NCPD Arson Squad responded to the scene.
- A vehicle on Cathedral Avenue was rummaged through. There was no loss reported.
- Officers investigated a report of a man stealing multiple cases of beer and protein shakes from CVS.
- An unlicensed driver was charged with passing a red light on Franklin Avenue.
June 21
- Officers responded to a Harrison Street residence for a man trespassing. Officers apprehended the man, and upon investigation, determined he was on the property to intercept two fraudulent credit cards in another’s name which was sent by UPS to the location. He was also found to be in possession of another fraudulent credit card. He was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, trespass, and identity theft.
- A witness said a vehicle struck and damaged another vehicle in Nassau County Parking Field 6 before fleeing the scene.
- Officers investigated a report of a man walking on the properties of 2nd Street and Hilton Avenue residences checking door handles. Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on 2nd Street.
- Officers responded to Garden City Golf Club for a report of a damaged fence and the theft of three flags.
- An unlicensed motorist was charged with excessive speed on Clinton Road.
June 22
- As a result of a local power outage, officers responded to Old Country Road for malfunctioning traffic lights.
- Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on 5th Street.
- Officers responded to Stewart Avenue for a large tree limb in the roadway. The Parks Department responded and rendered the area safe.
- A motorist was charged with driving on Cherry Valley Avenue with a suspended registration and unregistered operation.
- An SUV reportedly left the scene after sideswiping and damaging a vehicle parked on Kensington Road.
