Nassau Awards First Round Of Grants To Help Restaurants
The Restaurant Recovery Grant Program is designed to help eateries stay open during the winter months, when outdoor dining won't work.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Nassau County has awarded the first round of funding from its Restaurant Recovery Grant Program to 100 eateries in the area.
The county created the program with $2.2 million in federal Community Development Block Grant funding, and plans to award grants to about 300 restaurants in total. The restaurants are eligible for grants of either $5,000 or $10,000, depending on the number of full-time employees they have.
The program was designed to help restaurants stay open during the winter months. Though officials say indoor dining is safe, there are still restrictions in place limiting the number of diners in a restaurant. And with the colder weather here, outdoor dining isn't feasible for most.
