Nassau Coronavirus: Cases Still Grow Despite Reopening

The spread of the coronavirus has slowed, but people are still getting sick every day. Six communities now have more than 1,000 cases each.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Even though Long Island is beginning to reopen, the coronavirus has not gone away. New cases are still being reported across the region every day, and many people are still dying.

As of June 13, there were 41,204 cases of the coronavirus in Nassau County — an increase of 1,064 since Long Island began its phase one reopening May 27. There have also been 2,165 deaths reported in Nassau due to the virus — 51 since reopening began.
