Nassau Police Announced Road Closures For LI Marathon
Many roads are scheduled to be closed Sunday morning to make way for runners. Plan your detours now.
The Long Island Marathon is scheduled for this Sunday, May 5. And there are going to be many roads closed for hours in the center of the county that day.
Those planning to drive through the area should definitely find alternate routes. Here are the closures, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
- The entire loop of Charles Lindbergh Boulevard will be closed from 6 to 10:30 a.m.
- Stewart Avenue, from Merchant's Concourse/Endo Boulevard to Merrick Avenue, will be closed from 6 to 10:30 a.m.
- Merrick Avenue, from Old Country Road to Hempstead Turnpike, will be closed from 6 to 10:30 a.m.
- Park Boulevard, from Hempstead Turnpike to Merrick Avenue, will be closed from 6 to 10:30 a.m.
- Westbound Hempstead Turnpike, from the Wantagh Parkway to Merrick Avenue, will be closed from 6 to 11:15 a.m.
- Merrick Avenue, from Hempstead Turnpike to Bellmore Avenue, will be closed form 6 to 11:15 a.m.
- Bellmore Avenue, from Merrick Avenue to Jerusalem Avenue, will be closed from 6 to 11:30 a.m.
- Bellmore Avenue, from Jerusalem Avenue to Sunrise Highway, will be closed from 6 a.m. noon.
- Westbound Sunrise Highway, from Bellmore Avenue to the Wantagh Parkway, will be closed form 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Merrick Road, from Jones Avenue to Pine Street, will be closed form 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Old Country Road, from Duffy Avenue to Carman Avenue, will be closed from 7:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
- Carman Avenue, from Old Country Road to Hempstead Turnpike, will be closed from 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
- Stewart Avenue, from Carman Avenue to Salisbury Park Drive, will be closed from 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
- The Wantagh Parkway, from the Northern State Parkway to Ocean Parkway, will be closed form 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The Northern State Parkway exits to Post Avenue and the Wantagh Parkway will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- All exits and entrance ramps to the Wantagh Parkway will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The Meadowbrook Parkway exits and entrances to and from Charles Lindbergh Boulevard and Eisenhower Park will be closed from 5 to 10 a.m.
- Eisenhower Park's Park Boulevard will not allow through traffic between 7:15 and 10 a.m. The Hempstead Turnpike entrance will be open for golf and Carltun guests.
The police say that the roads may be close earlier, remain closed longer, or open earlier than the listed times. All of the times are approximate.
