Obituary: Joseph Comunale, 26, Hofstra University Graduate

Comunale was murdered inside a Manhattan apartment building, police say.

Joseph "Joey" Comunale passed away on November 13, 2016. He was born in Stamford, Conn. on March 9, 1990 to Patsy and Lisa Comunale.

Joey is survived by his loving parents Patsy and Lisa Comunale, his sister Alexa Comunale, grandfather Joseph Comunale, grandparents Antonio and Grace Pimpinella. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles; Portia and Eric Horsa, Sal Comunale, Joseph and Lisa Comunale, Rosa and Dominick DiPreta, Karen and Tony Uva; and cousins; Erica, Kyle, Lauren, Gianna, Nicholas, Amanda, Nick, Sabrina and Michael. He also leaves behind many friends and family who he touched in many ways. He is predeceased by his grandmother Marrietta Comunale.

Joey attended Westhill High School and was a member of the State Championship Baseball Team. He also played hockey which was his true passion. He attended Hofstra University where he received his degree in Legal Studies in Business and was a member of both the club hockey and club baseball teams at Hofstra. Joey was a member of the DSP Fraternity at Hofstra where he met several lifelong friends who bring us fond memories of his life to this day. Joey was very active in Stamford where he touched hundreds of individuals whether at the hockey rink, softball field or socializing with too many of his friends to mention. The world was a better place because of him, his life was cut short too soon.

Family and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, Conn. on Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 1-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, Conn. Entombment will follow at Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich, Conn.
