Paid Fire Fighters should return to GC

Several years have now passed since the Volunteer fire department and the Trustees have forced out the Paid Fire Fighters from Garden City. They worked together and planed out the change, over a number of years. Since the departure the people of Garden City have noticed longer times until a fire engine gets to a fire or any call.

Before the departure of the Career Fire Fighters, responding times have gone up. In the past all 3 stations would have 2/3 people in an engine and one officer from headquarters (so around 7-10 total) would be responding to your house on the worse day of your life. before the the volunteers even got to the fire station.

After the recent fires and the lack in response times by the fire department we all now ask. Could more have been saved if the paid Fire Fighters were still on duty.

We will let you form that option yourself and we call on all residents to demand a new paid force to be added.
With the crazy amount residents pay in taxes each year you think a tax cut would have happened. But In never happened. You know why? Because the volunteers wanted more to spend on stuff they don’t need. Like the free flowing beer on tap in the fire house.
Residents are also calling on the mayor and other trustees who aren’t in bed with the FD. To demand a new paid force to be formed. We need people who can be ready on a moments notice 24/7 that’s what we pay for and that’s what made garden city what it is. People bought here because of what garden city offered. And now we are all more at risk with out full time coverage. And that has never been more obvious until now.
