Stop & Shop, a neighborhood grocer for more than 100 years, today unveiled its new wareroom facility and refreshed Hempstead, NY, store located at 132 Fulton Avenue.

The store, which opened its doors in 2001, is now noticeably brighter and more modern. The store not only has a new look, but it also now has remodeled seafood and bakery departments, offering shoppers fresh selections of items they love the most.

“We’re excited to share our newly refreshed store with our local shoppers,” said Ryan Mintzer, Store Manager of Stop & Shop Hempstead. “Stop & Shop has been proud to serve the Hempstead for 20 years, and we hope these enhancements demonstrate our commitment to the community.”

Another enhancement at the Hempstead store is the addition of Stop & Shop’s sixth Long Island wareroom, which will increase order delivery capabilities in the New York region and create 100 part-time jobs in Hempstead. The wareroom joins the East Northport, Medford, South Setauket, Riverhead and Farmingdale facilities that serve Long Island. The facility will offer 11,000 sq. ft. of dedicated space for online order fulfillment and will not impact traditional store operations or offerings.

“Stop & Shop Delivery has been in high-demand and by adding a sixth wareroom, we can reach more homes and offer even more capacity to best serve our customers,” said Mike Vittorio, Director of Stop & Shop Home Delivery on Long Island. “Expanding our home delivery capabilities is just one more way Stop & Shop makes it easy for our shoppers to get what they need.”

To celebrate the refreshed store and new wareroom, Stop & Shop will donate $2,500 in gift cards to Academy Charter School in support of their hunger relief efforts. Customers can look forward to a weekend of giveaways and samples from Friday, January 15th-Sunday, January 17th, while supplies last.
