Traveling on Thanksgiving, Garden City? Better Fill Up First.

Gas is more expensive than it was last year, but here are some cheap places you can top up before you hit the road.

Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, which means that everyone is going to be filling up their cars before they hit the road.

Fuel prices are higher on Long Island than they were last year. The current average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.368, according to AAA. That's just slightly above last year, when the average was $2.331.

AAA says that 48.7 million Americans are expected to travel on Thanksgiving, and nearly 90 percent of them will be driving. But the gas prices this year are the second-cheapest in a decade, so it's a good year to drive.
