The CEO and chairman of Whitmore – The Agency, one of the largest New York City area independent insurance brokerages, is featured on the cover page of the December issue of the Long Island Press. Above the description "All In The Family," James C. Metzger, whose philanthropic commitment to Long Island includes the support of grade school, high school and college lacrosse, appears with his nephew, Rob Pannell, a college and professional lacrosse star.

“Like Uncle, Like Nephew: How Jim Metzger And Rob Pannell Defined Long Island Lacrosse” describes the family work ethic in lacrosse and in business along with their passion for sports and the office. Dedication and commitment to excellence also are key components that have placed Metzger and Pannell at the top of their games.

According to the article that appears on pages 14 and 15, Pannell attributes his success on the field and at Whitmore to the close relationship he has enjoyed with his uncle during their paralleled sports and business careers. Presently, Pannell is transitioning gradually from the field into the executive suite as he becomes engaged with what he refers to as “the Ivy League lacrosse mafia of Wall Street” under the guidance of his uncle and mentor.

Family means everything to Metzger, and Pannell always has embraced the importance of the close-knit traditions enjoyed by the Metzger-Pannell clans.

“Everybody should have an Uncle Jim in their lives,” according to Pannell.
