Gowanus Gets Its First 'Tastes Of BK' Spring Restaurant Crawl

Everything you need to know to sip and sample from the neighborhood's best eateries next month.

GOWANUS, BROOKLYN — For the first time, Gowanus will get its own chance to sip and sample local eateries. The Tastes of Brooklyn has announced that a debut Taste of Gowanus event will be coming to the neighborhood next month.

The event, planned for Saturday, April 13, will let ticket-holders sample food and drink from local businesses starting just a few blocks from the Gowanus Canal. The food fest will run from 2 to 6 p.m. and start on 3rd and 4th Avenue.

"Try fine food and drink for all ages from historic to adventurous - right at the doors of charming neighborhood establishments," a flyer for the event reads.

The event is the first time Gowanus has held its own food fest in the spring and was inspired by similar neighborhood events like the Gowanus Holiday Flea market or the Carroll Gardens-Cobble Hill Crawl, organizers said.

Tickets for the Taste of Gowanus can be found here and cost $20 for four tickets or a discounted $50 for 11.

Each ticket will give access to the wide range of businesses that have signed up, including cocktail bars, BBQ spots, Four & Twenty Blackbirds pastries, mac and cheese pierogies and special cuisine from around the world, like Monte's, known as the oldest Italian restaurant in Brooklyn, organizers said.

The event will also include a Hip2B Healthy Market stands with fresh juices and smoothies and special activities for Earth Day.

Proceeds will support Seeds in the Middle's programs to empower youth in central Brooklyn's food deserts to create Hip2B Healthy Markets.

Organizers are also still taking sign-ups from local businesses or guest chefs who would like to participate in the event.
