Hurricane Barricades Put In Place In Red Hook, Report Says
Workers set up giant sandbags on Beard Street on Monday.

RED HOOK, BROOKLYN – Barriers designed to protect Red Hook from flooding if the city is hit by another hurricane were put in place this week, according to News 12 Brooklyn.
City workers set up giant sandbags, some as high as four feet tall and weighing about a ton, on Beard Street.
The temporary barriers were expected to remain in place for about five years.

They came as the city continues to work on a $100 million flood prevention plan for the neighborhood, which was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
