Red Hook Teens Can Join This Free Fashion Design Class (Updates)
The program is being offered by local non-profit Pioneer Works.

RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — Pioneer Works, a local non-profit operating an interdisciplinary space dedicated to "research and experimentation in contemporary culture," is running a free fashion design get-together for Red Hook teens starting Friday, Jan. 13.
Those interested in applying for the "Friday Night Fashion Club" can do so now by emailing cassie@pioneerworks.org. Emails must be received by Jan. 11, and applicants must be teens who live or work in Red Hook. They will receive a brief application document which they should fill out and return. They can also come by Pioneer Works, located at 159 Pioneer St., to pick up an application in person.
The program's coordinator says it will be a combination sowing and fashion design class, and will run each Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. until June 3. Students will also get to make their own fashion products. (Last year's class made fanny packs and dresses.)

As part of its mission, Pioneer Works offers a range of programming, including an upcoming speaker series on the interplay between technology and art, and a late-January performance that re-imagines the Greek myth of Iphigenia, and which features Esperanza Spalding. The organization also operates Pioneer Books.
