Man Scuffles With Burglar He Finds Inside His Gowanus Home: NYPD

The 63-year-old man came home to find a window open and a robber inside stealing jewelry, police said.

GOWANUS, NY — A man came home to find a burglar inside his Gowanus apartment swiping jewelry, police said.

The 63-year-old victim saw an open window in his apartment near Nevins and Union streets on Feb. 14 when he went inside and found the man stealing his property at about 10 a.m., the NYPD said.

The two got into a scuffle when the robber fled the apartment through the open window and stole cosmetic jewelry from the home, police said.

The man was not injured during the robbery, authorities said.

Police said the robber is between 40 to 50 years old last seen wearing all dark clothes.
