New Gowanus Holiday Flea Market Starts Saturday
Holiday Flea Market offers local goods, art and activities along the canal.

GOWANUS, BROOKLYN -- The Gowanus Holiday Flea Market will kick off this weekend and offer shoppers a scenic spot to find holiday gifts each Saturday until Christmas.
The market, set up in a boathouse along the Gowanus Canal, will feature a diverse collection from artisans and craft makers, many who made their work in Gowanus or Brooklyn. It will also include children's activities, food and drink and a student-run Hip2B Healthy Market.
The event is family-friendly, dog-friendly and free, according to a release.

Small works from a group of 27 Gowanus artists, many who have been inspired by the canal, will also be for sale for less than $150 each.
Some of the profits from the market will support the Gowanus Dredgers public canoeing programs, and Seeds in the Middle, empowering underserved students to create healthy places to live, like running Hip2B Healthy Markets.
