'New' Littlefield Opens Doors For First Show

The Gowanus venue is opening a new location around the corner from its old Degraw Street spot.

GOWANUS, BROOKLYN — Littlefield is opening its new location in Gowanus on Friday with an album release show for a brass band.

The music venue has spent its first decade or so on Degraw Street but was forced to move from there because the landlord didn't renew their lease.

The new location is on Sackett Street between Fourth and Third Avenues. Patch stopped by on Friday afternoon and got a sneak peak at the new space as a crew was putting the final touches on the building before the show.

Immediately to your left when you walk in is an art gallery, featuring installations from local artists and this massive mural from Ashley-Simone McKenzie. The mural wall can actually be moved to set up a coat check space behind it in the winter time.

The bar area features a "honeycomb" light setup above the barstools that creates a pretty neat effect.

And the bar menu features some new cocktails — including a "Bee Charmer" drink to stick with the honeycomb theme — along with beer and a shot specials.

The main room has a projector wall behind the stage that looked pretty nifty. The stage is also closer to the floor. (A crew was testing out the new lighting system, so we couldn't get a good shot of that area. You'll just have to go see it for yourself.)

A Kickstarter created to raise moving funds has raised over $5,000 more than the $26,000 goal littlefield set for itself. The venue is still taking donations there that come with perks like tickets and CDs.

The venue will also have a new restaurant opening in a back area that will feature food from El Atoradero. That space is still about two weeks away from opening.
