2 Killed In Box Truck Crash On Long Island Expressway
Police said the driver was traveling east on the expressway when he crashed into an overpass in North Hills.
NORTH HILLS, NY — Two people were killed Monday morning when a box truck veered off the Long Island Expressway and crashed into an overpass for Shelter Rock Road in North Hills Monday morning, Nassau County police said.
The crash happened at about 5 a.m. The truck driver and a passenger, both males, were killed, police said.
The driver was traveling east on the expressway near Exit 36 when the crash happened.

As of 10:15 a.m., the eastbound side of the expressway was closed at Exit 34 for New Hyde Park Road.
Detectives asked that anyone who may have seen the crash contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-244-TIPS, or call the Homicide Squad at 516-573-7788.
