Arts Center Hosts Reception on Exhibit Focusing on Environment

Assemblyman D'Urso on hand to congratulate the artists for their work

GREAT NECK, NY — March 8, 2018 — The Gold Coast Arts Center recently hosted an artist reception for the gallery exhibition titled, “Collective Consciousness.” Revealed in this exhibit is the way artists explore their relationship with current environmental issues.

Gallery curator Jude Amsel stated, “The gallery affords artists a platform from which they use their vision to bring their concerns to the forefront and to make green initiatives the subject of cultural conversations.” Ms. Amsel noted, “Some of the artists make bold statements about the natural world through the use of multi-media, graphic design and video installations, expressing their views about the imprint that humankind continues to leave on our planet.”

Collective Consciousness runs from February 14-April 1, 2018 at the Gold Coast Arts Center 113 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck, NY.

“People use art to express themselves completely, both who they are inside and to the outside world. To quote Thomas Merton who was a Trappist monk, ‘Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time,’” said New York State Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso who stopped by the reception to recognize the Gold Coast Arts Center and congratulate the artists.

Participating artists include Lauren Skelly Bailey, Yoon Cho, Charles Cohen, Linda Cunningham, Beth Williams Garrett, Nancy Gesimondo, and Luba Lukova.
