Great Neck Man Kicks, Spits on Police Officers At Bar: Cops

Police say the man began yelling at police who told him to leave the area.

GREAT NECK, NY — A Great Neck man has been arrested after police said he yelled, spat on, and kicked police officers who asked him to leave a bar. Nassau County police were called to Baker Hill Tavern on Middle Neck Road around 3:30 a.m. Saturday for a disturbance.

When officers approached Kevin Rodriguez 23, of Middle Neck Road, Rodriguez began yelling at them, police said. He refused repeated commands to leave the area, then approached an officer and flared his arms in what police called an aggressive manner. When officers arrested Rodriguez, he spat on an officer’s face, police said.

When officers placed Rodriguez into a police ambulance, he kicked a second officer in the head, police said. Rodriguez was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. Both officers were also taken to a hospital for treatment.

Rodriguez faces charges of assaulting a police officer, 2nd-degree obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct, two charges of 2nd-degree harassment and resisting arrest.

He was scheduled to appear in Mineola court Sunday.
