Looking Back at Tropical Storm Irene
One year after the storm struck Great Neck and the New York area.
As Hurricane Isaac is poised to hit the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts, Patch looks back a year ago to Tropical Storm Irene. It was one year ago when , prompting many to leave their homes. Residents and shopkeepers boarded up windows. Great Neck was dotted with fallen trees, blocking roads, and asked people to stay indoors. North Hempstead  authorized a 100-person Highway Department tree-trimming crew to work side-by-side with Long Island Power Authority personnel to speed up power restoration. Patch looks back at some of those images from around North Hempstead. Please feel free to upload your own to the gallery.
