Manhasset’s Class Of 2021 Valedictorian, Salutatorian Named
Joshua De Leeuw and Noémie Gomes-Jourdan have been named the Class of 2021's valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

MANHASSET, NY — Manhasset School District officials have chosen Joshua De Leeuw, as the Class of 2021’s valedictorian, and Noémie Gomes-Jourdan, as the salutatorian, according to a news release.
De Leeuw has excelled in academics, particularly in Science Technology Engineering, and Mathematics subjects, school district officials said. He was involved in science research and named an officer of the Science Olympiad team, and has also participated on the Mathletes team. He is president of the Math Honor Society, and the treasurer of the Student Senate.
Outside of academic clubs, De Leeuw is involved in athletics as a member of the baseball team, and on the Student Athlete Leadership Team, where he serves as a mentor to younger students in the district. He plans to attend Cornell University and major in engineering.

Gomes-Jourdan is an “accomplished member of the high school community,” who is a cellist in the concert orchestra and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, school district officials said. Her “excellence in music” led to her participation in the Concert Festival International Competition, where she played piano and received a Grand Prix award in 2019 and 2021, according to school district officials. She is a volunteer pianist at Brandywine Senior Living.
Gomes-Jourdan, who is in the math, science, social studies honor societies, serves as Webmaster and peer responder of the English Honor Society and the treasurer of the French Honor Society. She recently received the top score and a platinum award in the United States for the American Association of Teachers of French “Le Grand Concours” National French Contest. She also ranked first in the competition in 2019.

Outside of school, she is a ballet student at American Theater Dance Workshop, and she competes in North Shore Swim League Championships. She plans to major in biology at Carnegie Mellon University in the fall.
