Fall Courses in Ceramics and Music Take Kids from Clay to Play
The latest announcement from the Gold Coast Arts Center should be music to parents’ ears: Registration has opened for three early childhood classes this fall.
The three classes include Sing, Dance, Play; Early Childhood Music; and Working with Clay.
Sing, Dance, Play is intended for children ages 3-4. They will engage in movement activities, play simple instruments, and sing traditional songs, according to Orff principles of music education. A key characteristic of this approach is lessons that feature elements of play.

Early Childhood Music is for children aged six months to 3 years. Babies (and their caregivers) and toddlers will enjoy music from multiple genres, rhythm, and movement that promote mental and physical development.
Working with Clay is available for two age groups: Ages 3-4 and ages 4-6. Participants learn to harness their imaginations and express their ideas through art while developing their spatial awareness and fine motor skills.

Each course helps kids prepare for school by enhancing their intellectual, social, emotional, motor, language, and literacy abilities. “This is a great opportunity to stimulate you and your child with music and art taught by professionals in these fields, says Ellen Schiff, director of the School of the Arts at the Gold Coast Arts Center. “You can have fun while inspiring their creativity.”
