Long Island Weather: Snow Could Make Mess of Monday Commute

A couple inches of snow may fall on the island early Monday, enough to make it a rough go on the ride to work.

The National Weather Service says the island will likely see 1-2 inches from a low pressure system that tracks across the region. There's about a 30 percent chance of more than 2 inches of accumulation. The snow should end by mid-morning Monday.

Snow will also be possible late Tuesday night and Wednesday, but the NWS says there are "still a lot of details to iron out" with regard to that storm.

Friday Night- A chance of showers between 10pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. South wind 9 to 15 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday- Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 41. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Northwest wind around 10 mph.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. North wind around 9 mph.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 37. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Sunday Night- Light snow likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday- A 40 percent chance of light snow before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39.
