Special Weather Statement Issued For Long Island

A special weather statement has been issued for Long Island and there are multiple snow chances in the work week forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Long Island warning of hazardous travel conditions for the Monday morning commute.

"Snow has melted and is expected to refreeze tonight across the Tri-State area," the statement says. "This will cause slippery conditions on untreated surfaces tonight into Monday morning."

There are multiple snow chances in the work week forecast. Little or no accumulation is currently expected. What is expected, though, is bone-chilling temperatures. High temperatures from Wednesday to Friday will be near the freezing mark.
