Sands Point Preserve is one of the many sites around the world participating in the International Coastal Cleanup. The event is sponsored by the American Littoral Society, an organization whose mission includes promoting the study and conservation of marine life and habitat.
Besides being unsightly, litter contributes to the injury and death of wildlife in and around local beaches. But you can help make a difference by taking part in the cleanup. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and finishes by 11:15 a.m. To register, email info@friendsspp.org, and include your name, number of people in your group, and anticipated time of arrival. Additional information will be provided upon registration.

Participants will compare notes on their findings from the morning, and investigate how specific types of trash are especially harmful to wildlife. Preregistration is required. To register, email info@friendsspp.org, and include your name and the number of adults and children, and their ages, in your group. Admission is $10 per car, or free per car with an Annual Pass.
