Weinstock is running for Congress in New York’s Third Congressional District, which includes sections of Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. He is not accepting any new legal clients, but he made an exception, to represent the jailed journalist.

When interviewed by a Canadian television station, Weinstock said that he was moved by Anna’s plight. “It must be especially anxiety-producing. Not only is there a pandemic, but the riots have filled up the City’s jails. And truth be told, I'm also saddened because I love New York City so much... and we're not putting our best foot forward.”
