HARLEM, NY — The Lion of Lenox Avenue has gone into retirement, and Adriano Espaillat has been elected to replace him. When Charlie Rangel announced his retirement earlier this year, the door opened for a new Democrat in Harlem for the first time in 40 years.

Of course, there's also the infamous race between Jon Girodes and Bill Perkins, in which the Republican Girodes offered to hand out free fried chicken, watermelon and Kool-Aid to Harlem residents. He, expectedly, did not fair well.

13th Congressional District (Harlem/Washington Heights/Inwood/Bronx): 491 of 496 precincts reporting

  • Adriano Espaillat (Democrat): 81.51 percent
  • Robert Evans (Republican): 6.31 percent
  • Daniel Vila Rivera (Green): 3.24 percent

29th State Senate District (East Harlem/South Bronx): 221 of 223 precincts

  • Jose M. Serrano (D): 79.08 percent
  • Jose Colon (R): 6.98 percent
  • Linda Ortiz (Conservative): 2.17 percent

30th State Senate District (Harlem/Upper West Side/Morningside Heights): 238 of 241 precincts

  • Bill Perkins (D): 87.95 percent
  • Jon Girodes (R): 4.37 percent

31st State Senate District (Washington Heights/Far Western Manhattan): 233 of 235 precincts

  • Marisol Alcantara (D): 77.37 percent
  • John Toro (Conservative): 1.09 percent
  • Melinda Crump (R): 6.93 percent

68th State Assembly District (East Harlem): 107 of 107 precincts

  • Robert Rodriguez (D): 82.65 percent
  • Daby Carreras (R): 8.19 percent

70th State Assembly District (Central Harlem): 97 of 97 precincts

  • Inez Dickens (D): 83.9 percent
  • Heather Tarrant (R): 6.44 percent

71st State Assembly District (North Harlem): 93 of 96 precincts

  • Herman Farrell Jr. (D): 81.82 percent
  • Vanessa Stanback (R): 6.81 percent
