New Vaccination Sites Open At Harlem Church, NYCHA Complex
The two coronavirus vaccine sites opened in Harlem in recent days, including at the Abyssinian Baptist Church. Both have already closed.
HARLEM, NY — Two state-run coronavirus vaccination sites opened in Harlem within the past week, part of an effort to distribute the vaccine in low-income neighborhoods and communities of color.
The first site opened Friday at the NYCHA Corsi Houses in East Harlem (307 East 116th St.). Only NYCHA residents are eligible to get vaccinated at that site — one of five public housing vaccine sites around the city that the state opened last week.
The second site opened Monday at the Abyssinian Baptist Church, which became the first church in New York City to administer shots. The first recipient was Abyssinian pastor Rev. Calvin O. Butts, III, who said he hoped that hosting a vaccination site at the historic church would help increase trust in the vaccine.

Both sites closed Monday and are no longer accepting appointments, having given out more than 350 doses combined. To find more places to get the vaccine, visit nyc.gov/vaccinefinder. Appointments are mostly filled up, but new locations are being added as they open.
Mayor Bill de Blasio has warned that the city's supply of COVID-19 will run out this week without a major resupply from the federal government. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, too, has protested that the state receives only 300,000 doses per week, even though more than 7 million New Yorkers are now eligible to be vaccinated.
