Blood Donations Needed For Cold Weather, Drive Thursday

The New York Blood Center is in need of donations as the colder weather is creating a challenge.

"Patients need blood (and especially platelets) even in storms and the need becomes more acute as donations are lost to severe weather," the blood center wrote on a recent post to their Facebook Page.

A blood drive is being held Thursday at The Rinx, 660 Terry Rd. In Hauppauge, from 3 p.m.-9 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling Evelyn Castello at 516-909-5171. Walk-ins also welcome.
