Duck Donuts Announces Opening Date For Hauppauge Eatery

HAUPPAUGE, NY - The highly anticipated new donut shop coming to Hauppauge recently announced its opening date.

Duck Donuts will officially open the first Long Island location at 586 Veterans Memorial Highway on May 19.

In addition, the eatery will be hosting a grand opening event on June 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., partnering with Angela's House as the first official "Quack Give Back" recipient.

Owner Veronica Bencivenga, who currently lives in Nesconset, says she was inspired to open the eatery after family tasted Duck Donuts while on vacation in the Outer Bank of North Carolina in 2009.

"It was love at first bite," she said.

In 2013, when the company began franchising, Bencivenga saw a leaflet at the store she usually attends and brought one home. From there the rest was history.

"We are thrilled to bring Duck Donuts to our family and friends across Long Island as we open the first Duck Donuts in New York state," she said.

Bencivenga told Patch she thinks Hauppauge was the perfect place to open the store. She has a connection to the area since her son plays for a local baseball team and the law firm she used to work at is also located in Hauppauge

"We're getting tremendous support from residents and businesses in Hauppauge, the Hauppauge Industrial Asssociation has been extremely helpful, we just feel like we're being welcomed by everyone." she said.
