Hauppauge-HQ FPA-LI Names New Board President
Mark A. Badami, CFP, CLTC has been named new board president of Hauppauge-HQ Financial Planning Association of Long Island.

February 22, 2019; Hauppauge, NY – The Financial Planning Association of Long Island’s (FPA-LI) Board of Directors, headquartered in Hauppauge, has elected its Mark A. Badami, CFP, CLTC as its new President. Badami is a financial services representative at the Center for Wealth Preservation, a general agency of MassMutual Life Insurance located in Hauppauge, NY.
Badami is serving a two-year term as of January 2019, leading the Long Island chapter, based at 200 Motor Parkway in Hauppauge. He has been a member of the association for 15 years, served as Symposium Board Chair in 2017 and 2018, and has served on its Board for four years.
The Association’s Long Island chapter provides an educational and networking forum for professional financial planners, promoting activities on Long Island to benefit financial planning professionals and helping them to provide superior service and advice to their clients.

As President, Badami is advocating for the financial planning community while seeking to grow the chapter’s membership. “My goal is to create more public awareness and become very active with lawmakers through advocacy, making them feel that FPA-LI is the first place they should turn to when creating laws pertaining to insurance and finance,” Badami said.
A Dix Hills resident, Badami is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and holds a Certification for Long Term Care (CLTC) designation. He is a graduate of The State University of New York, New Paltz with a degree in finance and minors in both economics and political science.

With a desire to serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. Badami then decided to follow his passion and pursue a career in financial planning. He went on to obtain the CFP (Certified Financial Planning) designation, a much sought-after credential, for which only half those who take the exam pass. Badami is also a seven-time Court of the Table member of the Million Dollar Round Table association of financial professionals. To achieve Court of the Table designation, one must be in the top five percent of all financial professionals worldwide.
Badami participated in the Long Island Fight for Charity boxing fundraiser in 2004 and 2010, helping to raise over $100,000 for local charities. He served on the Board of the American Heart Association’s Heart Gala, which raised over $350,000 in 2005 and 2007 for the association. He remains a member of its American Heart Advisory Council. He is also a member of Long Island Elite, and has served on its Charity Masquerade Ball committee for over six years.
Badami is also a Board member of ASPPA (The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries) Benefit Council of New York City, which provides information about pensions to third party administrators and advocates for pension reform.
Over the years, Badami has been interviewed periodically by News 12 Long Island on financial planning and related issues as well as having been quoted in Advisor Today and Long Island Business News.
Founded in 1973, the FPA has 90 chapters nationally, including a Long Island chapter based at 200 Motor Parkway, in Hauppauge. The association is the principal professional organization for Certified Financial Planners or CFP professionals, educators and financial services providers. It supports high standards of professional competence, ethical conduct and clear, complete disclosure when serving clients.
