Hauppauge HS Senior To Ride 100 Miles For Individuals With Autism

Luca Iallonardi Will Ride From Manhattan To The Hamptons In Support of Local Autism Organizations

Hauppauge High School Senior, Luca Iallonardi, is participating in this year's Bike To The Beach fundraiser in support of local individuals with autism. Luca was inspired to do the ride in honor of his brother, Jackson, who has autism. On September 26, Luca will ride his bike 100 miles from Manhattan to the Hamptons.

Luca, an IB student and accomplished musician, typically has a schedule packed with school activities. The spring quarantine due to Covid-19 cleared his schedule and gave Luca the opportunity to take long bike rides outdoors. He decided to train for the Bike To The Beach event and spent the summer increasing his distance and endurance for long rides. Luca is riding with Team NSASA (Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America) to raise money for individuals with autism in our local communities. NSASA is a non profit organization which provides support to local families affected by autism. NSASA is a parent-run organization serving over 4,000 families on Long Island. They strive to provide positive experiences for families in a non-judgmental, welcoming environment.
When asked how he felt about the 100 mile ride ahead of him, Luca said “I am so glad I get to raise money and awareness for such an important charity. My brother and other individuals with autism are in need of social opportunities, and I would do anything to help those individuals and their needs. Biking 100 miles couldn’t compare to the hardships Jackson goes through.”
We wish Luca and his team beautiful weather and a perfect ride on 9/26. If you would like to donate Luca's learn more about Luca's ride and support local individuals with autism, please visit https://my.biketothebeach.org/luca1024 to see his “Bike to the Beach” page. Good luck Luca-- we can't wait to see you at the finish line!!
