Hauppauge Schools Seeking New Superintendent
The board of education announced its approval of a superintendent search on the agenda of its meeting this past Tuesday.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — The Hauppauge School District is looking for a new superintendent, according to an item posted on the board of education's agenda from Tuesday.
The board approved a superintendent search, though Dr. Dennis P. O'Hara still holds the position.
Neither O'Hara nor the board of education responded for comment.

The Eastern Suffolk BOCES will perform the search at no cost to the school district, except for the reimbursement of printing, advertising, etc. for roughly $9,000.
O'Hara was named the Hauppauge superintendent in 2016, according to the Sachem Report. O'Hara was most recently the principal of Oyster Bay High School for 13 years.

He was previously an assistant principal at Hauppauge High School and the district's science department chairman from 1998 to 2003, according to his page on the Hauppauge School District website. O'Hara received a doctor of education from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, a professional diploma in educational administration from Dowling College School of Education, a master of science in technological systems management from SUNY at Stony Brook School of Engineering, and a bachelor of science in biology and secondary education from SUNY College Old Westbury.
"Dr. O'Hara brings a wealth of teaching and administrative experience, and leadership skills to the Hauppauge School District," his page reads.
