Hauppauge Teacher Of The Week: Mrs. Janet Kiernan
The father who nominated Kiernan says she goes "above and beyond" to help his daughter, who has ADHD and dyslexia.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — Mrs. Janet Kiernan, a teacher at Bretton Woods Elementary School in the Hauppauge School District, was nominated as Teacher of the Week. Kiernan was recognized by parent Robert Rosenberg, whose daughter is in the second grade.
"My daughter has ADHD and dyslexia, and her teacher just goes above and beyond to help her," Rosenberg told Patch via email. "Her improvement has been amazing and could not be done without her teacher's help and dedication. Once a week we drop her off early so her teacher can have 1-on-1 time to give her the help she needs. We are truly lucky to have Mrs. Kiernan."
