The National Weather Service has revised its snowfall total estimates for Long Island.

Snow remains in the forecast this weekend, but the National Weather Service has slashed its accumulation estimates in half for Long Island.

The latest projections call for 1-2 inches of snow to fall on Saturday night into early Sunday.
Before we get to the weekend, we will be dealing with some wet weather on Friday, but it will be in the form of rain.

The full forecast:
Friday- Rain likely, mainly before 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 50. Southwest wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 22. Northwest wind 9 to 17 mph.
Saturday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the morning.
Saturday Night- Snow before 2am, then rain and snow. Low around 32. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 8 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Sunday- Rain and snow likely before 7am, then a chance of snow between 7am and 8am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 33.
Washington's Birthday-A 50 percent chance of rain after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 48.
Monday Night- A 50 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 42.
