Local Pharma Company to Build $10 Million Facility, Hire 100

ScieGen to create generic drug manufacturing facility.

Expecting federal approval for medicine it has developed since its launch four years ago, a Hauppauge-based pharmaceutical company will be moving into a new $10 million facility and hiring about 100 people over the next couple of years.

According to a Newsday article, ScieGen – which received a $2.4 million grant over a year ago from New York State for future growth – will maintain its current research facility on Davids Drive in addition to the new facility which will be used to create generic drugs.

ScieGen's Chief Financial Officer, Renee Reynolds, told Newsday the company "must be ready to ramp up to full-scale production once we receive additional approvals to manufacture and sell these [generic] pharmaceuticals."
