Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul Pitches in at Island Harvest Food Bank
Helps sort face masks, hand sanitizer to distribute to LI'ers in need

New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul recently stopped by Island Harvest Food Bank’s Hauppauge Distribution Center to help volunteers sort and pack masks and New York State hand sanitizer to include at food distributions across Long Island to people still struggling with food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Island Harvest Food Bank has helped more than 300,000 families on Long Island affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, supplying them with fresh and non-perishable food, personal protection equipment, and offering referral services to programs such as SNAP (formerly food stamps).
New York State has partnered with Island Harvest Food Bank and food banks across the state to help residents economically impacted by the pandemic and continue to struggle with food insecurity. Among the state-funded programs include Nourish New York, a $25 million statewide initiative that reroutes the state’s surplus agricultural products through New York’s network of food banks to people who have been economically impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
