Motorcyclist, Passenger Seriously Injured In Crash
A woman was airlifted with serious injuries after the crash Saturday, police say.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — A motorcyclist and passenger were seriously injured in a Hauppauge crash Saturday morning.
According to Suffolk County Police, Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which took place at 10:35 a.m. on Veterans Memorial Highway and MacArthur Boulevard.
Laura Ruggiero, 36, of Hauppauge, was driving a 2016 Nissan northbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when she attempted to make a left turn onto MacArthur Boulevard and collided with a motorcyclist, Joseph Waite, 60, of Shirley, who was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson northbound on Veterans Memorial Highway, police said.

Waite was transported to Southside Hospital Medical Center in Bay Shore with serious injuries; Waite’s passenger, Andrea McCarthy, 52, Bohemia, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Ruggiero was uninjured, police said.

No charges were filed in the crash, police said.
The motorcycle and vehicle were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
