Officials from the Suffolk PBA, the Nassau County PBA, the Nassau County Detectives Association, and the Nassau County Police Superior Officers Association recently toured Island Harvest Food Bank's Hauppauge distribution to learn more about hunger on Long Island. According to Island Harvest, approximately 300,000 people in Nassau and Suffolk counties struggle with hunger and food insecurity. The police associations in both counties have long supported Island Harvest's hunger-relief efforts by contributing funds and conducting food drives, including hosting a bi-county annual Veterans Day collection event that provides supplemental food support for local veterans struggling to make ends meet.
